Extropia

We're going to have our next planning meeting on November 8, noon SLT in the Salon Room.

Until then, let's share some ideas!

Especially, if any of you have contacts to share, this is a great place to post them, and I'll follow up.

But, let's organize some small events, get together some cool things, and see what we can come up with together!

Still aiming to raise some funds? I was wondering if a sponsored cross-dressing event would go down well? In RL or SL? Perhaps it will be difficult to get ppl to do that in RL! Gender swapping in SL would be easier (I already have my new av) but would anyone sponsor that?

Well, cross-dressing and changing gender entirely are somewhat different Isenhand, but I like the idea! I think it'd be dead fun for me to spend a day in a suit and cheeky bowler hat for a day, in the name of a good cause!

OK, so as mentioned at the Planning Session 2, here's my idea:

Since I (and possibly others) likely won't be able to attend much of the party on the day of the Solstice, I was thinking we could host a community-build type event on the afternoon or evening before (i.e. that Saturday).

My idea was that we would join forces to erect an altar/shrine that honored the notions of gender freedom & diversity (as well as ultimate unity[?]), that could also double as the DJ booth/soundsystem for the all-day party the following day.

Sort of like an Amish barn-building, only, you know, crazy-high-tech like with lights & particles and the implication of atom-smashing sound-pressure levels XD.

The images I'm including give some idea of what I'm thinking of, but I'd rather see what sprang up organically out of a group-build.

So anyhoo, I guess what I'd need is:

a) the go-ahead to start pestering gathering folks to participate in the build itself (first & foremost I'd want as many Extropians as we can get to contribute, but I'm sure I could also pull in friends & builders from outside our community)

b) some sense of available resources for something like this. Prim-limits? Total ground-area footprint? other land/tech. issues I'm not thinking of?

c) maybe some idea of a generally-preferable time slot for such an event? (I'd been thinking maybe 3hrs max, depending on how many people are interested in participating, but I'm open to longer/shorter)

d) whatever else I'm not thinking about right now, but would be foolish not to consider...

whadda you guys think?
