Extropia

Here's a question I'm interested in on all sorts of levels: where do you live (in Extropia), and why is your house the way it is?

Our homes here are personal places, where we choose to express our interests and pasttimes to our friends while also affording ourselves privacy, to change clothes, to work and to date. What have you done to put your personal stamp on the home you have here? I'd lead, but I'm still in the process of carving out my mini doll's house, out in the myPods.

Oh, er, pictures are fun. :)

Well I live in the tower in the NE of Extropia. I ended up there by chance. I’d been taking part in the RCAF dogfights over here and thought I might as well have a base near the action!
The building just sort of evolved from an idea knocked up in an afternoon…

It got refined slightly…

I wanted a good view so I built upwards…

then downwards…

then sideways…

then out in to space!

I’m currently expanding in to time…

The Ad Astra space station seems to have evolved in to a zero-g psychedelic disco for some reason…

and work continues.

Oh, superb stuff, Cornelius! Thank you! Yours is certainly a distinctive home out there and it's lovely to see it laid out like this. ^_^

The interior of your TARDIS concerns me, though. Don't tell me you're here under a ruse to build a Paradox Machine. o.o

I think so far ChittyChittyBangBang has turned out to be enough of a paradox machine for me ;-)

My first home in Extropia was a fre-fab modular construct using building surplus. The “Podular” design was popular in recently terraformed areas of the Martian Colonies due to its durability, simplicity, and ease of construction.

Quite utilitarian, as one might imagine. The first, or "Service" level included the public entry and reception pods, and the power and utilities. The second, or "Habitation" level included sleeping quarters and my library. On the third level was the media and lounge pods, and the helipad and "Skybox" pods.

My current home in Extropia is the “Spiral Tower.” While I was satisfied with my initial “Podular” Home, I desired something more elegant, and more in keeping with the Core’s overall thematics. Inspired, of course, by one of Madame Tripsa’s references, “Building Venus” I created the Spiral Tower.

While different than my "Podular" Home, the tower's pods are arranged somewhat similarly. the first pod is my public office. The second my "rest" area. The third my library and den, the forth is the media lounge, the fifth the "Skybox," and the sixth and final pod is my personal heli-pod.

I am overall quite satisfied with this effort's visual impact, and feel that it makes an appropriately themed contribution to my area of NeoVenice. The most challenging aspect of this build was the modification and integration of the elevator system in the central support tube.

As I continue to refine my builder's skills, however, I have no doubt that other future structures will replace this build. Inspiration is at hand at every turn, and currently I am in the conceptualization phase of a new tower based on a combination of the CN Tower and the Space Needle. I am also considering a "rotating" variant of my Podular design.

Eventually, I think, I would like to be able to offer my pre-fab designs for sale, as a supplement to my retirement stipend. But many improvements in my building techniques are necessary, I believe, before that is possible. To that end, I continue my ongoing studies at NCI.

Hi, I currently reside where 'The Sidebar' was originally going to be.

This is my new Galactic Kitty store :D

It's a beautiful group of islands, quiet and peaceful, nicely appointed
and well designed from the ground up ^^

Enough to make any production designer proud :)
