I'm just curious, and ask this only for fun, not as a discriminatory thing or any statistics-related garbage... if Extropia held a census, like that which is a legal requirement in the U.K., what sort of a spread d'you think we might have in cataloguing people's origins?
A huge part of what Extropia's about is this idea of "digital haven" - what's here is here, and what goes on outside is of no concern to anyone (but it can be interesting to chat about if you wish!). When atomic-world countries have adopted this idea though, people's origins were by no means discarded, and I know that just by being here our separate ideologies, micro-cultures and passions help to broaden the wider community.
So, without wishing to name names or point fingers, I know that we have a few proud extra-terrestrials in our midst, each with subtly different ideas about the spaces they build and how they go about their lives here. I treat my own endeavours as a proud 'imitation human', with different perspectives still from, say, our gynoid robotic residents.
I guess what I'm asking is simply, "where did you come from?" Just for fun, remember. :)
