Yesterday was another weekend day in which Phineas Messmer organised a dogfight with Royal Caledon Air Force and Extropia Defense Force pilots. It's a great feeling when Caledon's finest decide to come to our shores and join the EDF's own in friendly manoeuvres. Granted, a few Caledonians have alts. or maintain temporal loopholes to ensure an Extropian citizenry, thereby fitting themselves into both forces, but ignoring that I do believe in the flouncy notion of future-happy partnership. So what if Caledon's 'planes use Tesla coils and cranks and not plasma reactors with bio-mechanical gel packs?
A little later in the day was an event that Extropia, its citizens and certainly we of the Board had been looking forward to or some time. Scientist and author Catherine Asaro joined Soph for a return to her salon schedule, talking about her books, the future as she saw it, and a delightful breadth of other sci-fi offerings. The discussion was chaotic even by salon standards; probably a symptom of over-excitement on all of our parts, but Catherine held together well. One remarkable reflection was that she seemed to rather enjoy what Second Life has to offer. It's my hope that such an experience will bring our guest a whole new world of excitement. It's hard to deny the creative potential here, at least!Tags:
