Extropia

i have lived in extropia since the pods went up, i love it here. i will never move. I especially love the music, and the sunsets. However it seems that whenever i am home, i am the only one here in town, so i am most happy to find that an extropia ning exists. i'd like to get more involved in my community. Oh, and since I can't figure out how to get an existing pic of myself from my inventory saved to my computer to upload here, please enjoy the photo of valentina tereshkova, the first woman in space. i'm glad to meet my fellow extropians and neighbors.

Oh, I should stress that while I'm not sure precisely what Cosmic Engineers now covers, they're still very much a transhumanist organisation. One might assume they're simply broadening the scope to include space travel, too. The group certainly keeps casual discussion going on that very topic.

As for exploring, you've little to worry about! A few months back we decided to push the boat out on having path networks to every plot and that stands to this day - even if you wish never to step on another person's plot, you can usually work your way around to see it all anyway. As a rule of thumb, anything at ground level which isn't closed off by means of a door is open to the public, though folks like Cral have done a good job of presenting automated greetings too. Ad Astra, for example, may be found at Sawyer Beach - the rocky headland south of the harbour in Extropia Odyssey. Just look for the stargate. :)

Thank you for the very warm welcome Cral! I knew the Ning was the place to be, as it seems to bridge those pesky time zone barriers. I appreciate the invite, I look forward to paying your home a visit, which I imagine is spectacular. There are so many truly gifted builders here! I'll look around the Nexus for info on Saturday’s event. Pleasure to meet you!

Hello Meggan. I am often about in Extropia, particularly in NeoVenice, at my abode. Please feel free to stop in any time, whether I am in or not. There is a "notecard" that provides a brief orientation to my structure. There are no locks or security devices in my manse, and Extropia's policy explicitly prohibits "harassing" residents for simply walking or flying by private property.

Also, this Saturday, I believe, there is a speaking/discussion event in the Salon at the Nexus.

Thank you Vidal! That’s so funny that you call it puppeting - my hubby teases me constantly for what he calls “muppet piloting”, my guilty pleasure.

So sad to hear the status of Transhumanists is "former". I remain H+ at heart.

I'd really like to see some casual round table discussions on sci/tech issues in Extropia. After all, what better place than here? I think that would really be fun, and would draw new members to the community.
I must check out that space station bar! Not quite sure how to get there though. I've been hesitant to wander around for fear I’m intruding on private property.

Every time I venture out of my pod, Extropia is bigger and even more wonderful, kudos to all who are responsible for the beautification of Extropia - it's looking brilliant!

Thanks for the introduction, Meggan! I'm sorry to hear that the city is often deserted when you're around; I too suffer that, having a Puppeteer on a European timezone. It seems easier to find like-minded folks on weekends, such as when we have a salon or party running.

Social spots are now beginning to pop up if that'd interest you at all - I know that Cosmic Engineers (formerly SL-Transhumanists) still holds gatherings at its bar, Cornelius' Ad Astra space station includes a club space with stunning cosmic views, and we're looking to create more similar spaces in Extropia Odyssey too.

Still, I hope you enjoy the Forum. I hope it can serve purpose. :)
